Western North Carolina

Charity Anthology

Local NC authors are putting together a charity anthology to raise funds for relief efforts in Western North Carolina. Over 100 authors have pledged their time and words to the cause so far.

Western North Carolina was hit hard by Hurricane Helene, suffering unprecedented damage.

Some towns have been completely wiped off the map, people have lost their homes and businesses. Roads have been swept away. People are stranded without power, cell service, or running water.

You can read more about it here or here.

How the anthology will work

Our anthology's theme is: MOUNTAINS

Due to an amazing volume of responses, we will be running this anthology with multiple genres, with short stories of a up to 5k words at the absolute max per author. We will be formatting these anthologies for e-copy delivery to donors who make a donation to one of the below charities and share proof with us via a form when submissions open. Every $10 donation will allow you to choose from one anthology genre below. A $50 donation will give you access to all genres.

Anthology Genres:

  1. Contemporary fiction

  2. Fantasy

  3. Romance

  4. Science Fiction / Fantasy

  5. LGBTQIA specific

  6. YA

We WILL NOT personally accept donations through NC Indies, as that is a tax hurdle none of us indie authors can manage. Donors will be encouraged to donate to the organization of their choosing from the below.

Who are the NC Indies

We are a group of indie authors and small business owners from North Carolina who have come together to help our neighbors in the Western parts of NC. Some of us call the mountains home, some of us have many fond memories of the area. Regardless, we have all been impacted by this storm and want to help our community.
