Our anthology's theme is: PRIDE in NC
Our anthology’s genre is: ROMANCE
Word count maximum: 5,000
Word count minimum: 1,500
The legalese:
Romance theme does not necessitate spice. All romance is accepted, including platonic romance
This anthology is intended to feature independent, self-published authors
You do not need to be a previously published author to submit
This is a paid anthology, with compensation anticipated to be at $0.03 per word
All submissions should be focused on PRIDE/LGTBQ+ themes that take place in North Carolina
Pieces will be 5,000 words max, no exceptions
Anthology will be published through KDP for e-book and print copy sales
Exclusivity will be set at 4 months
NC Indies is accepting pieces that have been published elsewhere so long as you the author owns the rights to publish again
Authors are expected to promote the anthology, as well as the curator and editor
Authors must sign contract of participation
All accepted authors will be featured on the back cover of the print version of the anthology
It is suggested that participating authors use an editor they are comfortable with. NC Indies will provide formatting for final anthology as well as potentially provide general line editing, but we will not provide in depth developmental or copy editing
Payment for submission will remit after acceptance and signature of contract with NC Indies / Fantalytics LLC (curator's business entity in North Carolina)
The timeline:
Call for submissions opens: 02/24/2025
Call for submissions close: 03/27/2025
Submission selection and notification complete: 04/18/2025
Contracts sent: 04/25/2025
Contracts due: 05/02/2025
Final editing, formatting: 05/05/2025 - 05/23/2025
Final approvals due: 05/30/2025
Anthology release: 06/18/2025
Aiding the LGBTQIA+ community of North Carolina through written word.
The NC Indies PRIDE Anthology is not only telling queer stories of individuals in North Carolina, but proceeds are going to support charities within the region who are actively aiding LGBTQIA+ communities. Thirty-three precent of proceeds, after curator repayment, will be donated to Equality NC Foundation or Pride in North Carolina.

Please note, it may take until 04/18/2025 for you to be notified if you have been selected for inclusion.
Submission guidelines:
* 12 pt. times new roman
* Double spaced
* Please no extra lines between paragraphs
* Please no simultaneous submissions
* Ensure you add the name of the story and your name and address, telephone number, and email address in the word file
* Please include any associated trigger warnings, back matter, and links to social medias

NC Indies is a group of indie authors and small business owners from North Carolina, all dedicated to the craft and vertical of writing. We meet on DISCORD weekly to host sprints, share important information about the indie publishing process, and help other authors in the North Carolina community grow.
